For the 2016 / 2017 year, the Tech4Farmers Innovation Challenge will
accept applications that address the following 4 themes. Click below to learn
more about what we are looking for under each theme!
We will assess the challenge entries against the following criteria
SUBMISSIONS AND AWARDS
Unlike many challenges, the Tech4Farmers Innovation Challenge does not offer a cash prize. Our challenge is focused on expanding existing innovative solutions in the region, and so the awards are focused on providing the information, business services and linkages necessary to expand into new markets. Over the next 5 years, our target is to make 12 awards. We estimate the value of the testing, services and linkages will be up to $250,000 USD per award. We will accept submissions on a rolling basis but will review them in groups every two months.
Round 1: Application Verification
As a first step, participants must submit an online application by completing the online form. Only complete applications submitted in English will be reviewed and only successful applicants will be contacted to move on to Round 2. All complete applications will be posted to the Challenge website in order to promote your approach to stakeholders and ensure transparency throughout the competition.
Round 2: Virtual Interview
Successful applicants will be invited to join a video interview. Successful applicants will move on to Round 3 while unsuccessful applicants will be provided with feedback that may help with a resubmission. While applications are accepted on a rolling basis, applicants must wait at least 6 months before resubmitting their application.
Round 3: Due Diligence
Once the applicant reaches this round, the team will confirm critical information about the application and the claims. This may include application verification, site visits, and reference checks etc.
Round 4: Technical Services Award
The applicant and the Tech4Farmers Innovation Challenge team will frame a partnership agreement under the award that outlines specifically how technical services will be used to transfer the technology into the designee country.
